Protecting your Microsoft Account with a Yubikey

We've established why physical security keys are helpful, but this article will focus on HOW to set it your Yubikey with your Microsoft account. Follow these steps to utilize your key, and make your account safer! 

Step 1: Log into your Microsoft Account.

Step 2: Click the profile icon in the top right corner.

Step 3: Select "Manage Profile" from the drop down menu.

Step 4: Select "Manage Account." A pop up window will be created.

Step 5: At the top menu, select "Security".

Step 6: Select the box that says "Advaned Security Options."

Step 7: Scroll down and click "Add new way to. verify"

Step 8: Click "Use Security Key."

Step 9: Choose "USB Device"

Step 10: Choose USB security key"

 

Step 11: Insert your key and touch the gold spot, as instructed.

Step 12: Create a 4 digit pin (any number of your choice) to help identify your key, as instructed.

That's it! Your key is now set up as a method of verification for Microsoft account log in.
