Meta has a special program for campaigns' Facebook and Instagram accounts called Advanced Protection.

The program is voluntary and helps Facebook and Instagram to more quickly detect any potentially suspicious account activity by monitoring potential attempts to hack the account, such as unusual login locations or unverified devices. DDC is sharing recommendations with Meta for people to invite into the program as they continue their global expansion.

Advanced Protection is designed for:

  • Candidates of federal, state, and local offices and their campaign staff
  • Federal, state, and local elected officials and their staff
  • Representatives from federal and state political party committees and their staff
  • Federal, state, and local agencies and departments’ Page admins who have a role in the elections process

You can read more about Advanced Protection here: https://www.facebook.com/help/1052552578831700

To get started with requesting enrollment in Advanced Protection, you can fill out this form, which collects information such as your campaign or organization name, position, and Facebook Profile URL: DDC's Advanced Protection Enrollment Request Form. Once your enrollment is approved, you will be sent an invite via your Facebook account.

You can request protection for your Facebook account, Instagram account, or both. Please note that if your Facebook account and Instagram account are connected, enrolling for Facebook will automatically enroll your Instagram.

If you're not comfortable filling out the form, please send an email to info@defendcampaigns.org and we will give you an alternative way to apply for enrollment.
